Gretchen Erwin, M.S., CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist, Specialist in AAC and GLP
Gretchen earned her Bachelor of Education Degree in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of West Georgia and a Master of Science Degree in Communicative Sciences and Disorders from New York University. Gretchen has experience working with pediatric clients, from birth to early adulthood, in both private practice and the school setting. She has served clients with a variety of disorders and areas of need, including gestalt language processors, receptive and expressive language disorders, developmental delays, speech sound and phonological disorders, and social communication and pragmatic disorders.
Gretchen specializes in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and has experience working with software companies such as Dynavox, PRC, and Saltillo to obtain devices for children, as well as ongoing therapeutic use of a variety of devices. Additionally, Gretchen has formal training using the Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP), an AAC approach designed to give individuals who benefit from aided communication a method of independently and spontaneously expressing themselves through a speech generating device. Gretchen prioritizes use of ND-Affirming practices and completed the LEARN PLAY THRIVE, Authentic AAC:Implementing Communication Systems for Autonomy & Connection course to support emergent communicators in a way that fosters their autonomy, self-determination, and connection to those around them. Gretchen is trained in Meaningful Speech TM focused on child-led therapy, gestalt language processing, and the Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) framework, developed by Marge Blanc (2012).
Gretchen has a passion for working with all ages in the pediatric population and loves to create functional and fun therapy sessions that highlight an individual's interests and strengths to address their goals. When Gretchen isn’t at the clinic, she likes to spend time with family and friends, go thrifting for therapy toys, and drink iced coffee.
