Ellen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies degree at Furman University and a Master of Science degree in Communicative Disorders from the University of Alabama.
Ellen has experience in different private practice settings in both Raleigh, NC, and Birmingham, AL, providing language, speech sound, pragmatic, literacy, early intervention, AAC, and fluency therapy to the pediatric population (ages birth-21) with disorders and diagnoses including apraxia of speech, Down syndrome, autism, intellectual disabilities, micro deletion syndrome, receptive/expressive language disorders, dyslexia, and speech sound disorders.
Ellen is trained in Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing focused on the principles of motor learning for children with apraxia of speech and she also has experience working with children with dyslexia using the Barton Reading & Spelling System as well as the Intensive Phonological Awareness Program. Ellen has experience working with children using a variety of augmentative and alternative communication tools such as TouchChat and LAMP Words for Life.
Ellen has a passion for working with all ages and loves to create a fun and comfortable environment for therapy sessions that are tailored to the client’s specific interests and needs. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, needlepointing, playing pickleball, and cooking.
